How do you put a eye screw into a Dowel?
Mark the center of the dowel and tap a nail on the center mark to make a small hole.
Drill the pilot hole at least as deep as the eye screw will go in, start twisting the eye bolt into the dowel, use patience and I use Vaseline on the threads that will make screwing it in a little bit easier too. and if it's to hard to do it by hand, putting a screwdriver through the eye screw makes it easier to screw in.
Note:
Drilling a pilot hole to small and the dowel will split.
To keep the drill bit from slipping of the dowel, use a drill bit about an 1/8 smaller than the eye screw diameter and test it on practice on scrap wood for proper size.
